Meet the Designer
Being instilled with a desire to create from a young age, David Au has always followed the path of an artisan and skilled craftsman. Excelling in various fine arts in his younger years, David has gathered the recognition of several state and national awards and has had pieces displayed in the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. and the Office of the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities. Taking his abilities into higher education, David went on to obtain an Associate Degree of Applied Science with a focus on Digital Media. From there, he applied and refined those skills running a freelance media production service creating countless high-end productions for businesses and individuals. In 2012, David Joined the Ohio State University as a digital media and A/V specialist. It was with the renovation of the Bromfield Library that David began to apply and combine his vast technological skill set with his fundamental knowledge of design theory. Working closely with the contractor and architect, he provided valuable input toward the overall design and took the lead role in the visual design and technology integration for the Learning Collaborative Classroom. Realizing a newfound passion for interior design, David began taking on other projects, delving into the construction process. With each new venture, David challenges himself to learn new skills such as building and utilizing his own vacuum veneer press to achieve high-end finishes in custom cabinetry. His continuous desire to create has given him a wide depth of abilities, ranging anywhere from ice sculpting and music composition to A/V integrations and everything in between. The application of this breadth of skills enables him to approach new designs from a unique and innovative perspective.
"...he is like a walking encyclopedia of technology. He is always trying to improve himself and learn about new tools and gadgets. He has never suggested a new technology that he hasn't tried first and mastered."
