Designed for Production
This was an exciting build focused primarily around a custom piece of furniture. This "studio desk" needed to incorporate several creative features in order to accommodate all of the hardware necessary for recording and post-production editing. The design began as a concept sketch and grew from there. After measurements were confirmed and a CAD model was produced, a steel square tube frame was welded. The frame incorporates a full extension drawer glide for a full-size keyboard. The design allowed for the keyboard to be pushed all the way to the rear of the desk to provide ample leg room for the end user. 19-inch standard A/V racks were strategically placed in three locations as well as a shelf for the computer tower. A two-tier desktop provides ample workspace and places the monitors and speakers at a comfortable viewing height. The tube frame was painted silver and the desktop stained with a contrasting dark brown. The top was then completed with a poured two-part epoxy for a glass-like finish.
